Hallo Welt Systeme has started selling the Volla Phone X23, a successor to the Volla Phone 22 and Volla Phone X. In short, the Volla Phone project continues to be Google-free and open source. At launch, the Volla Phone X23 will support Ubuntu Touch or Volla OS, an AOSP-based Android fork.
At the heart of the Volla Phone X23 is a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which we have reviewed in the Moto G72 and POCO M5, among other devices. Additionally, Hallo Welt Systeme equips the handset with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable storage, a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 30 W wired or 15 W wireless charging and a 6.1-inch 'U-Notch' display that runs natively at 1,560 x 720 pixels. Moreover, the Volla Phone X23 has 48 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 16 MP front-facing cameras, which contribute to the device's 160.9 x 80 x 12.2 mm and 270 g footprint.
The Volla Phone X23 is orderable for €522 with either Volla OS or Ubuntu Touch. However, Hallo Welt Systeme is offering a 10% saving on the smartphone until March 19 with the discount code 'VOLLAX23'. Effectively, the Volla Phone X23 has a €478.13 launch price; pre-orders should begin shipping in May. At the time of writing, it seems that Hallo Welt Systeme is only selling the Volla Phone X23 in Europe. The company's FAQ implies that it will eventually bring the Volla Phone X23 to Indiegogo for other people who want to order from other countries.
