The Edge+ (2022) has dropped to US$499.99 on Amazon today, which may be one sign that its very similarly-titled successor is on the way. It is projected as heavily based on the Moto X40: Motorola's most competitive Android flagship to date on paper on its Chinese-market launch.
A second strong hint that it is en route to challenge the Samsung Galaxy S23 series in the US comes in the form of its certification on the Bluetooth SIG website, with the X40 and its probable European-market variant the Edge 40 Pro for company.
This new leak identifies the 3 versions of the early-2023 Motorola flagship by name and model number: the Moto X40 is the XT2301-5, whereas the 40 Pro is the XT2301-4 and the Edge+ (2023) is the XT2301-1.
They have all been approved to use the same Bluetooth 5.3 standard, and also possibly the latest audio features supported by Android 13 ("QCA Bluetooth Component for Android T with LE Audio"). Accordingly, it may not be long until the Edge+ (2023) is unleashed as the US' latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Android smartphone.
