Honor's new X40 Android smartphone was the first to move on to a new, ultra-thin Star Ring rear camera design in 2022, which is combined with an FHD+ display and a large battery in the new mid-tier handset. It might be a winning formula for the OEM, as it has now announced that it is re-launching it in the form of a new variant.
The X40 GT has already been revealed to present its new rear panel style in a much-changed black-and-green colorway that puts its new moniker front and center in the middle of its skinny camera halo. Accordingly, it is nearly patently being touted as a 'performance edition' already.
If there are specs to back this hype up, Honor is keeping them in reserve for now. However, the X40 GT is backed by the famous leaker Digital Chat Station to prove exceptional in that it will be a truly high-performance mid-ranger with a display refresh rate that might even exceed the 120Hz of the vanilla X40.
Then again, it will apparently still be LCD. This screen may be driven by a processor not a million miles away from the original X40's Snapdragon 695 SoC - most likely the 680, although the possibility of a debut with the newer 6 Gen 1 is also being thrown around. Honor will reveal which one it actually is on October 13, 2022.
