Honor is projected to launch the Magic 5 and 5 Pro as its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered flagship smartphones in 2023. However, they are now said to be joined by a Prestige Edition as a new type of Ultra in the same year. The putative US$1,000+ top-end variant might launch with a "custom" OLED display and a 1-inch main camera sensor.

Honor launched a Magic4 Ultimate Edition as a super-flagship version of its 4 Pro flagship smartphone in 2022. Now, it seems that it might be replaced by or converted into a Prestige Edition in 2023 instead. According to the leaker The Factory Manager's Classmate, this name might reflect the fact that the new top-end Sony IMX989 sensor will be exclusive to this new top-end SKU.

It might be available in just 1 12GB RAM/512GB configuration priced at 7,999 yuan (~US$1,111), leaving the Magic5 and 5 Pro to start somewhat cheaper at 4,999 (~US$695) and 5,999 yuan (~US$834) respectively, due to their 8GB options.

It is now said to be accompanied by up to 4 additional sensors in this putative Ultra-killer, one of which will also have OIS. The Magic5 Pro may have something as well, as its own main camera might be based on an all-new Sony IMX878, with its own OIS to boot.

As for the vanilla Magic5, it might get the 70 series' IMX800, as well as an IMX758 and Omnivision OV64B that it will share with the 5 Pro.

Honor's allegedly freshly-leaked new flagship specs list suggests that it intends to buck trends and release premium smartphones with no less than 4 rear-facing sensors in 2023; the entire Magic5 series is also reportedly destined for "8x8dTOF" sensors, as well as some new feature called "fliker".

The leaks also uphold Digital Chat Station's assertions that the Magic5 series will launch with a "custom" 6.8-inch OLED display across the board; it will allegedly be made by BOE with 1-120Hz LTPO technology, HDR10+ support and possibly 1,100 nits of max brightness.

The Magic5 series is also now backed to debut with a whole range of top-end hardware, including LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage - and Wi-Fi 7 support, which might be conferred by its all-new Qualcomm platform.

The 3 premium devices are tipped to support both UFCS and the fast charging speeds from earlier leaks, with a 5,000mAh battery - albeit for the vanilla variant only.

All in all, Honor is now painted as gunning for rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 or Xiaomi 13 lines of  2023 in earnest with these Magic4, 4 Pro and 4 Ultimate successors. Then again, they have yet to be paired with official acknowledgement or a launch date thus far.
