@OnLeaks has shared high-resolution renders and dimensions of the Xiaomi 13, one of two Xiaomi 13 series smartphones that he has leaked today. Revealed alongside the Xiaomi 13 Pro, the Xiaomi 13 moves away from the sleek design of the Xiaomi 12. It appears that Xiaomi has gone to greater lengths to distinguish the Xiaomi 13 from the Xiaomi 13 Pro than it did with the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro.
On the one hand, Xiaomi's cheaper flagship no longer has a curved display. Instead, Xiaomi has built the Xiaomi 13 around a flat display, which it surrounds with symmetrical-looking bezels. Additionally, the Xiaomi 13 has a centred punch-hole for a single front-facing camera, plus the usual assortment of two hardware buttons, a USB Type-C port and a downwards-firing speaker grille. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 13 has a much larger camera housing than its predecessor. As earlier leaks showed, Xiaomi has adopted a squircle-shaped camera housing, albeit still with three lenses. Arguably, its arrangement is closer to the OnePlus 10 Pro or the OnePlus 10T than the Xiaomi 12, with the camera housing taking nearly half the width of the Xiaomi 13's back panel.
Incidentally, the flat frame is reminiscent of recent flagship iPhones, like the iPhone 14, or the Nothing Phone (1). Despite all the visual changes between the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 13, the pair have practically identical footprints. Specifically, the Xiaomi 13 measures 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3 mm, or 10.3 mm if you include its camera housing. By contrast, the Xiaomi 12 comes in 152.7 x 69.9 x 8.2 mm. In other words, the Xiaomi 13 is within 0.1 mm of the Xiaomi 12's height and depth but is 1.6 mm wider. Currently, Xiaomi is expected to reveal the Xiaomi 13 series before the end of the year in China, presumably after Qualcomm's mid-November showcase of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
