One UI 5: Samsung commences Android 13 upgrades for Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series
Samsung has moved into the next stage of its One UI 5 rollout schedule. As we discussed at the start of the month, the company stated it would upgrade over 20 devices to Android 13 in November, followed by a similar amount in December. Although the company has not provided any firm dates for these upgrades, it has now started rolling out One UI 5 across Europe to the following models:
- Galaxy Note20
- Galaxy Note20 Ultra
- Galaxy S20
- Galaxy S20 Plus
- Galaxy S21
- Galaxy S21 Plus
- Galaxy S21 Ultra
As with past major One UI upgrades, Samsung will release these updates in batches. Hence, it could take some before the update reaches your device, particularly if you live in other markets like North America. Based on Samsung's rollout map, the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S21 FE should also be in line for One UI 5 later this month. Additionally, third and fourth-generation Galaxy Z foldables should be able to move on from Android 12 in November, as should the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S8 series.
Moreover, Samsung claims that the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G will be running stable One UI 5 builds before the Galaxy Z Flip 5G or Galaxy Z Fold2 will. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when other devices will receive One UI 5 this month. For example, the Galaxy Z Flip4 just received this month's Android security patch rather than Android 13 and One UI 5. Incidentally, Samsung has already outlined the greatest changes it has made between One UI 4 and One UI 5, which we covered last month.
