Now that Honor has launched one of the year's lightest, sleekest and most powerful flagship foldable smartphones to date, the company is thought to make a clamshell counterpart to the book-style Magic V5 official soon.
The "Magic V Flip 2" is now once again backed to debut in August 2025 with upgraded 80W Super Charge technology, based on a report that Honor has registered a new 5G device called the CLE-AN00 with the regulator 3C in China.
It certifies the device to use the apparent upgrade over the 66W V Flip, which could allow the device to outpace the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 or even the potentially formidable Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, which are restricted to 68W and 67W respectively.
The spec could also definitely beat the "Galaxy Z Flip7" in this regard, as Samsung is notoriously reluctant to upgrade its clamshell smartphone's charging speed regardless of how many generations are out of date right from their launch.
The "Magic V Flip 2" is also rumored to have a bigger battery than any of its putative rivals this year.
Then again, Honor's second-gen clamshell is also thought to be more of a flagship killer with something like the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for a processor, meaning it might be more of a rival for the Motorola Razr+ 2025 than the top-end Ultra 2025.
In addition, there is no hint at the addition of wireless charging to the V Flip series in 2025 thus far.
Finally, there are no indications that the V Flip 2 will be available outside China, whereas the Razr+ 2025 can be ordered on Amazon for $999.99 right now.
