IO Interactive's upcoming Hitman 3 looks like it'll feature a couple PlayStation 5-exclusive tricks up its sleeve. In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Sony detailed how DualSense controller support will work in Hitman 3. Thanks to DualSense, every gun in Hitman 3 will feature trigger resistance characteristics that mirror their real-life counterparts. Variable trigger resistance is something we've already seen implemented to great effect in Call of Duty on the PlayStation 5.
While the blog post only focused on trigger resistance, it crucially, did not say that this would be the only DualSense feature implemented in Hitman 3. This means that other DualSense-enabled interactions are certainly a possibility. It would be very interesting to see DualSense implemented for melee attacks and stealth kills, greatly adding to the game's visceral impact.
The announcement makes it even more difficult for Hitman fans to decide on which version of the game to buy. The PlayStation 4 version of Hitman 3 will feature pared-back visuals. However, IO promises PSVR support to make up for this. Backwards compatibility and a free digital copy of the PS4 version mean that PS5 owners won't have to shell out extra. However, accessing the game in VR would mean not playing the DualSense-enabled current-gen version.
