According to internal sources cited by Spanish outlet Area Jugones, Sony is planning to bring new DualSense controller refreshes to the market in a wider range of colors. According to Area Jugones, the new controllers will feature brighter Red/Black and Grey/Black color schemes. This will give PlayStation 5 gamers a wider range of options to pick from, since the DualSense is currently only available in a single White/Black configuration.
The report indicates that the color scheme is set to be the only major update to DualSense - this means that the refresh won't touch on features like features like haptics or touch, which could've potentially broken compatibility.
If confirmed, this would mark the first real first-party controller options for the PlayStation 5. This is an area, so far, Microsoft has enjoyed a considerable account: apart from a range of third-party XInput devices, Microsoft sells their Xbox Elite series of premium controllers, compatible with PC and Xbox Series S/X.
The new DualSense variants might not offer updated tech, but new color schemes mean more choice for players, nonetheless.
