Some months ago we reported on the N10 Pro from Hanvon, who is now adding another model to its range. The Hanvon Clear7 Turbo+ is an e-reader that is somewhat similar in design to the Kindle Oasis: The latter comes with a clear heel, so that one side of the housing is thicker and acts as a kind of grip, making the model quite easy to hold. The display is flush with the case and the bezels, so to speak, rather than "recessed" into it. Only two buttons protrude from the front, which are undoubtedly for page turning.
In contrast to the Kindle Oasis, the Hanvon Clear7 Turbo+ is a more or less open system, at least in principle. Android 14 is installed as the operating system. Access to the Google Play Store is apparently not possible, but it should be possible to install additional apps at a later date, which could further expand the range of functions.
On the inside is a Qualcomm SoC with four processing cores, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The panel is an E Ink Carta 1300 display with a resolution of 1,264 x 1,680, which only supports grayscale, not color. Wireless networking is available via Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is also supported.
The 175-gram e-reader will launch in China for the equivalent of around $220. A possible alternative with very similar specs is the Meebook M8 E-Reader, which can be purchased at Amazon.
