HMD could be working on a flagship to be called the Nokia 9 PureView
Tech tipster Roland Quandt has posted an interesting tweet in regard to a potential Nokia flagship device. He claims that HMD Global is working on a device that will be known as the Nokia 9 PureView. The obvious implication that can be made in regard to the name is that the smartphone will feature the well-known PureView technology utilized in Nokia cameras. Other leaks about a future Nokia flagship have focused on the possibility of it offering up to five lenses on the rear, which would conveniently coincide with the use of the “PureView” branding.
Nokia has fallen far behind the smartphone market leaders in terms of sales. The company was a market leader until 2010-11, when it saw its share gobbled away by rivals such as Samsung and Apple. However, the smartphone-maker still commands decent brand loyalty and there would be many that would love to see a Nokia flagship that could hold its own against the latest generation iPhone or Galaxy S.
Little else is known about the Nokia 9 PureView smartphone that may or may not eventually include a cluster of five cameras on its rear. Some reports have stated that HMD Global will not make any announcements about such a device until 2019; however, Quandt seems to believe that there may be more news about this almost-mythical device coming soon.
