Nokia 5.1 Plus coming to India next week
Although the mid-range area of the Indian smartphone market is very crowded, the Nokia 5.1 Plus — available in China as the Nokia X5 — seems to have all the required ingredients to get a slice of the sub-US$200 sector, although some might not be interested in this MediaTek-driven handset. Anyway, we will see what happens once the 5.1 Plus hits the local market and the first sales figures become public.
Already on pre-order and announced to be fully available starting October 1, the Nokia 5.1 Plus comes to India in Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Black. Its highlights include a MediaTek Helio P60 processor, a 5.86-inch notched IPS LCD display with 1,520 x 720 pixels, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, microSD support, an 8 MP front camera, a 13 MP + 5 MP main camera setup, USB Type-C, 3.5 mm audio jack, dual-SIM support, and a 3,060 mAh battery. Since this is an Android One handset, it comes with stock Android 8.1 Oreo and should get updated with the next two major versions of Google's mobile operating system (including Android 9.0 Pie, of course).
Unfortunately, the white color choice will not be available in India at launch. Those interested can already place their orders for the only memory/storage variant of the phone that we mentioned above and comes for roughly US$150 (INR₹10,999).
