Nokia has officially launched the 6.1 Plus for global markets. The first market outside of mainland China to receive the device will be Hong Kong starting July 24.

Nokia isn't done with its new smartphone announcements this month. The latest new smartphone from HMD Global is the global version of the notched Nokia X6, which until now had been an exclusive for the Chinese markets. The new Nokia 6.1 Plus will commence its global rollout on July 24 in Hong Kong, before it makes its way to other markets shortly after.

While most specifications remain similar to the Chinese X6, the Nokia 6.1 Plus will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 as opposed to the MediaTek Helio P60. It centers on a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display with 2220 x 1080 pixels for 432ppi and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The dual-rear cameras are 16MP and 5MP respectively, while the selfie-cam is 16MP. It is capable of HDR photos and includes AI technology for optimal results.

While the Nokia 6.1 Plus will also naturally be powered by a stock version of Android 8.1, the global variant is officially an Android One handset, which is an additional guarantee that it will receive speedier than usual software updates. It is available as a single 4GB RAM 64GB storage model and comes in black and white variants. It will retail in Hong Kong for the equivalent of around US$290, which makes it excellent buying.
