Geekom A7: Powerful new mini-PC starts with AMD Phoenix-HS APUs from $699
Geekom has now released the A7, a mini-PC that it previewed at the end of November 2023. Subsequently, the company outlined more specifications and confirmed that it would be showcasing the device at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, details of which we have covered separately. Now, Geekom is offering the A7 globally, despite insisting that the mini-PC will not be available until late tomorrow.
In summary, Geekom offers the A7 in two versions, one with a Ryzen 7 7840HS and the other with a Ryzen 9 7940HS. Please note that little separates the Ryzen 7 7840HS and Ryzen 9 7940HS, with a 1% gap existing in our benchmarks. Likewise, both APUs contain the Radeon 780M, an RDNA 3-based iGPU with 12 Compute Units (CUs), although AMD has clocked the version in the Ryzen 9 7940HS at 100 MHz higher than in the Ryzen 7 7840HS.
Additionally, while both units feature 32 GB of DDR5 dual-channel RAM, the Ryzen 7 7840HS and Ryzen 9 7940HS come with 1 TB and 2 TB SSDs, respectively. Other areas are unchanged between models too, including Bluetooth 5.3/Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, Windows 11 Pro pre-installed numerous ports, and a 0.47-litre case volume (112.4 x 112.4 x 37 mm). The Geekom A7 starts at $699 and rises to $849 for the Ryzen 9 7940HS and 2 TB SSD option. For some reason, Geekom will begin shipping Ryzen 9 7940HS orders first on January 25, with Ryzen 7 7840HS orders scheduled for the beginning of February.
