Garmin rolls out first 19.xx beta update for smartwatches with improved maps
Garmin has announced beta version 19.21 for the Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7 and MARQ Gen 2 smartwatches. This is the first release in the 19.xx beta testing cycle, arriving shortly after stable software version 18.16.
Four items are noted in the change log for beta update version 19.21. Firstly, Garmin indicates that it has improved the wearables’ map controls, though it does not provide further details here. There are also bug fixes for pool swim activities with a distance noted as zero, and loss of elevation data for multisport activities that began with swimming. Plus, the company has resolved an issue that could cause a delay to the flashlight switching on for users of some Connect IQ watch faces.
In a post on the brand’s forum, a Garmin team member notes that beta version 19.21 will not be automatically downloaded by eligible Fenix 7 (curr. $4499.99 at Amazon) and related smartwatch models. Instead, users need to go to Main Menu > System > Software Update > Check for updates. As with other beta releases, this software disables the watch’s ECG feature. If you wish to join the Garmin beta program, you can do so via the Connect app.
