Latest Garmin update for Fenix 8 brings up over sixty bug fixes and improvements to date since summer release

Garmin has delivered yet another update for its latest flagship smartwatches. While the Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 have only been around since late August, Garmin has now introduced over sixty improvements across multiple beta updates.

Garmin has released another new update for the Fenix 8, albeit on the company's Beta Program this time around. For context, Garmin started rolling out System Software 11.67 at the end of last month. However, it also offered up Beta Version 11.84, which brought forth more than half a dozen bug fixes to not just the Fenix 8 (curr. $999.99 on Amazon) but also the Enduro 3 and Fenix E.

This time, Garmin has flighted Beta Version 11.87, which is available to download globally. According to the new update's changelog, Garmin has introduced five bug fixes while also adding two Solar model watch faces for non-Solar models and improving a few other areas. Specifically, eta Version 11.87 is said to make the following refinements from Beta Version 11.84:

  • Added two of the Solar model watch face layouts as options on AMOLED models.
  • Fixed an issue where Turn Prompts were not alerting when using Navigation.
  • Fixed missing Navigation settings page when starting Course Navigation.
  • Fixed and issue where you could not save or discard Expedition activities after skipping the saving of the last point.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when smart notifications auto-dismiss, for users paired to Android.
  • Fixed a crash on the Battery Saver watch face on larger AMOLED screens.
  • Improved handling of the touch screen turning on the backlight (Solar models).
  • Improved animations and speed when scrolling through the Watch Face Editor.

As the5krunner notes, the new set of changes listed above means that Garmin has now rolled out over sixty bug fixes and improvements to the Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 since their releases at the end of August. Please note that only some of these changes have reached stable status. Nonetheless, the full list of alterations that Garmin has made since the trio's initial launch software is as follows:

  • Fixed a Broken Redial Button After a Missed Call.
  • Fixed Accidental Touches During Phone Calls.
  • Fixed alarm volume adjusts when using buttons.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Connect to fail to display which course was used for the activity.
  • Fixed an issue with a missing keyboard switch icon in some languages.
  • Fixed Bug affecting pairing with an InReach Device.
  • Fixed Bug preventing Workout Cancellation.
  • Fixed Button and Touch Screen Handling of Backlight in Do Not Disturb Mode.
  • Fixed Button Functionality for Transfer Call to Phone Feature.
  • Fixed CIQ Activities to use the Activity Focus Mode.
  • Fixed ClimbPro Behavior in Active Navigation Loop.
  • Fixed ClimbPro Preview Visibility.
  • Fixed Crash in Battery Saver for Various Languages.
  • Fixed Golf Map Rendering (Solar models).
  • Fixed inability to do Strength Free workouts.
  • Fixed Incorrect Active Timer Count.
  • Fixed Incorrect Waypoint Elevation in the Saved App.
  • Fixed issue when navigating the watch would the distance to the destination in feet/meters instead of Mi/KM.
  • Fixed issue with maps showing doubly thick lines in some cases.
  • Fixed issue with strength workouts rounding the weight to the nearest whole number.
  • Fixed issue with trolling motor pairing sequence.
  • Fixed Map Cursor in Pan/Zoom Mode.
  • Fixed Missing Weight Values on the Strength Workout Page.
