Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatch gets update with new features

Huawei is rolling out software version 5.0.0.100(C00M01) for the Watch GT 5 and the Watch GT 5 Pro smartwatches globally. These two smartwatches recently launched in Europe, with the standard model arriving as the company’s cheapest model.

This Harmony OS 5.0 update for the Watch GT 5 series wearables brings a new ‘fun’ RouteDraw Feature, suggesting courses which connect checkpoints to draw an image. Two further additions are a Calculator app and a quick logging tool for the Stay Fit app. On top of this, there are more Gallery watch face customization abilities, and screenshots can now be synced when you connect your phone. Plus, the release notes (below) state that there are system stability improvements, though further details are not provided.

Based on the change log, this update appears identical to the earlier version 5.0.0.97 (C00M01). It is unclear when the phased rollout of software version 5.0.0.100(C00M01) for the Watch GT 5 and the Watch GT 5 Pro smartwatches will be complete. Users will receive the update via the Huawei Health app, with the company advising customers to ensure they are using the latest app software before proceeding with the installation.
