Garmin releases important stable update for new smartwatches
Garmin has released system software 11.68 for the Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 smartwatches. This stable update brings an important bug fix to the models after several users flagged that the wearables could shut down when submerged in cold water.
According to the release notes, stable update version 11.68 fixes a bug which could cause these newer Garmin smartwatches to shut down with any rapid temperature change. This fix has already been tested by users with beta software version 11.81. Now, all customers with one of the smartwatches are receiving the bug fix. On top of this, some users indicate that the software has resolved issues with faster than expected battery drain, with one user going so far as to suggest that the battery life of their device Fenix 8 AMOLED smartwatch had doubled. However, many customers on the beta program still appear to be experiencing the problem.
In a post in the Garmin forum, a representative for the company indicated that system software version 11.68 was already available for all users of the Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3. The update should arrive automatically when the watches are connected to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. If not, you can manually trigger the update from the wearable’s system settings or via the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express.
