The Zepp team is releasing a new version of its app for Amazfit smartwatches. Version 9.0.0 has started to roll out to customers globally in phases following a beta testing program. The redesign is supposed to make the app easier to use, and the update also brings new features for activity and meal tracking.

A new version of the Zepp app for Amazfit smartwatches is rolling out. Users of the Amazfit Balance wearable were invited to beta test software version 9.0.0 in September. Now, the company has announced that the app update is on the way to all customers.

The latest Zepp app has a new design, which the company suggests makes it simpler to use and “focused on health insights”. Many customer reviews are positive, praising a cleaner and more current design. However, a few users have noted that elements like graphs for heart rate data are now buried deeper, and some suggest the app is harder to read.

Zepp also indicates that the wearable pairing process is now more straightforward. There is a new activity tracking tool which can suggest the level of intensity of your next workout to prevent over-exercising. Plus, a meal logging feature allows you to track your nutrition; you can upload images, and the app automatically detects what you have eaten.

At the time of writing, Zepp app version 9.0.0 is available for iOS users in countries including the US, the UK and the Netherlands. It is unclear when version 9.0.0 of the Android app will be available more widely. According to a recent Facebook post, the phased rollout is expected to be completed in October.
