Apple's Watch SE 2 misses out on many of the capabilities that its more expensive peers boast. Still, it is an excellent value for many people who have relaxed expectations from a sensibly priced smartwatch. Thanks to Amazon's ongoing Prime Day sale, the 40 mm, GPS-only variant of the Watch SE 2 is now available for just $170 for Prime members.

As revealed by the price tracking website Camelcamelcamel, the current price is actually the lowest one that the Apple Watch SE 2 has ever seen on the platform, making it a true bargain. Moreover, Amazon offers free delivery along with a 30-day return policy, so interested buyers can take advantage of this deal worry-free.

As for performance and features, the Apple Watch SE 2 sports the S8 SiP that was introduced in 2022. The screen is surrounded by bezels that are significantly thicker than those of the Series 9 or 10, but that is acceptable considering the price point. It boasts most of the health and tracking features that its pricier counterparts do, but misses out on ECG functionality, blood oxygen monitoring, and an always-on display among others. Its 1,000-nit LTPO display is great for indoor use, although does not get as bright as the Series 9. 

That being said, the Apple Watch SE 2 is a great entry-level smartwatch with most of the features anyone might need -  irregular heart rhythm notifications, accident detection, and fall detection, along with a plethora of apps and fitness tracking capabilities. At its current price, it is even easier to recommend, especially for those looking for a quality smartwatch that won't demand a king's ransom.
