Garmin rolls out another update for flagship Fenix 8 ahead of likely new stable release
Garmin keeps resolving bugs on its recent flagship smartwatch releases at a breakneck speed. Only a few days ago did we report that the company had released Beta Version 11.87 for the Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 (curr. $999.99 on Amazon) with five bug fixes and three other new improvements. As a result, Garmin claimed to have addressed over sixty bugs since it officially announced the trio at the end of August.
Following that, Garmin pushed System Software 11.68 to the same smartwatches, albeit without all the changes that it has been recently testing on its Beta Program. Rather than finalising those though, it has now decided to offer another beta update for the Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 with yet more bug fixes. As far as we can tell, Beta Version 11.88 does not introduce any new GPS, Touch Screen, Wireless or Sensor Hub software.
Instead, it bundles three bug fixes, of which two focus on addressing issues with Smart Notifications. Specifically, Beta Version 11.88 should rectify a bug that could potentially cause a crash when receiving Smart Notifications. Additionally, images should now load correctly in Smart Notifications, which may not have happened in Beta Version 11.87.
On top of that, Garmin alleges that its new update will no longer crash when a HIIT or Indoor Climb activity is active. With that being said, there are fresh reports of a system crash occurring when attempting to save a walking activity. Despite this, Beta Version 11.88 enables dive and ECG features, which is often a strong sign that Garmin intends to release a new stable update soon.
