The Amazfit Up open-ear earbuds are pretty cheap compared to rivals. It also has an interesting design and packs a handful of features best enjoyed if you own select Amazfit smartwatches.

Amazfit may be known for its smartwatches but it also makes other products including earbuds, and its latest is the Amazfit Up open-ear earbuds. Like one of its previous earbuds, the PowerBuds Pro, these are designed for working out but will also suffice for everyday usage.

Open-ear earbuds are known to have unusual designs: from the Sony LinkBuds to the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, and the more recently announced Nothing ear (Open) (curr. $149 on Amazon). The Amazfit Up are no different with its clip on design which leaves your ear canal unobstructed and keeps the earbuds in place.

The earbuds are textured, come in black, and have a physical button for controlling playback, taking or rejecting calls, calling up your phone's assistant. It will also work with Amazfit's Zepp Flow if you own a T-Rex 3 smartwatch.

Since these are open-earbuds, the idea is to keep you aware of your surroundings when out. However, they also use an AI algorithm to reduce background noise during calls. The Amazfit Up earbuds will also provide real-time workout alerts and turn directions when paired with a compatible Amazfit smartwatch.

Each earbud weighs 5 grams and is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. They have Bluetooth 5.3 and have support for Bluetooth Multipoint which lets you pair them to two devices at the same time.

Amazfit says the earbuds will provide up to 6 hours of use on a single charge with an additional 18 hours with the charging case. The case has a USB-C port and a full charge takes up to 2 hours.

The Amazfit Up open-ear earbuds are priced at $49.99/£44.90/€49.90 which is a quarter of the price of the new Sony LinkBuds Open (available on Amazon for $199.99). In select markets such as Germany, you can even get the Amazfit Up for free if you purchase it along with an Amazfit Balance or Amazfit T-Rex 3 smartwatch. This promotion runs until October 27.
