New Sony LinkBuds Open and LinkBuds Fit make their official debut
The new Sony LinkBuds Fit and LinkBuds Open are now official. Sony says these offer "improved wearability," mainly achieved through the redesigned wings. The company calls these wings "Air Fitting Supporters," and they are said to reduce the pressure points, making the wireless earbuds comfortable to wear.
Among the two, the LinkBuds Open have a design similar to the first pair of wireless earbuds Sony introduced for this lineup. Those came with an "open ring design," allowing ambient noise to get in for better awareness. While the newer buds are comparatively smaller, they feature a new 11 mm driver.
Sony says that this driver can offer enhanced bass performance and is louder than the predecessor. Another new addition to the LinkBuds Open is voice controls, which interestingly doesn't require any smart assistant. The processing happens onboard, and you can use voice commands to skip tracks, change volume, and more.
As for the LinkBuds Fit, they are basically an upgraded version of the LinkBuds S Sony released in 2022. These new wireless earbuds are lighter and smaller, and the smaller size negatively impacts the battery life. They are rated for up to 5.5 hours of runtime, while the predecessors could offer 6 hours.
On the bright side, the LinkBuds Fit can offer up to 21 hours of battery life with the charging case, an improvement from their predecessors. Another highlight of these new wireless earbuds is that they have the same V2 processor as the flagship Sony WF-1000XM5.
They also bring the Dynamic Driver X from the premium offering, promising top-end audio performance. The LinkBuds Fit have built-in voice controls too.
