Potential Sony WF-1000XM6 or WH-1000XM6 spotted in early leak
Sony is on a run of refreshing its popular high-end mobile devices, having introduced new colour options for the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM5 last month before pulling a similar move on the Xperia 1 VI earlier this week. With that being said, while Sony recently furnished the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM5 with new features, it is not expected to release successors until 1H 2025.
However, The Walkman Blog has now discovered early references to a new Sony wireless headset of some kind. Incidentally, the leak mirrors one relating to the chipset that eventually went on to power the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra (curr. $514.99 on Amazon). As such, few details about the headset are known for now, including its eventual retail name.
As the image below shows though, the 'YY2984' is a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Additionally, the YY2984 supports 2.4 GHz Bluetooth and may have a plastic shell, which would suggest that it is a pair of earbuds or headphones. Given that Sony is rumoured to be introducing the WF-1000XM6 and WH-1000XM6 early next year, we suspect that we will see more of the YY2984 in the coming months.
