Previous leaks hinted Sony's upcoming high-end headphones, the WH-1000XM6, would arrive soon. The Walkman Blog found a listing on the FCC website that heralds its imminent arrival. A FCC certification usually means the product is close to launch.
The FCC listing also gives us our first glimpse at the Sony WH-1000XM6. Design-wise, it may get a new hinge and perhaps some new earcups that might finally easily detachable. Its Bluetooth version is 5.3, and not 5.4 or even the newly unveiled Bluetooth 6.0.
The Walkman Blog opines Bluetooth LE Audio might not be support. Similarly, aptX might be absent due to Sony pivoting to a MediaTek audio chip. These are highly requested features and it would be ideal of Sony offered at least LE Audio with the WH-1000XM6.
An earlier leak said the Sony WH-1000XM6 could launch sometime in 1H 2025. This means it could arrive in May 2025, three years after the WH-1000XM5 launched. For now, there's no information about its smaller sibling, WF-1000XM6, but rumour has it both could launch together.
