Roland Quandt has shared new details about the Powerbeats Pro 2, shortly after @billbil_kun revealed Eurozone launch pricing for the upcoming earbuds. To recap, the latter claimed that Apple intends to launch the Powerbeats Pro 2 for €299.95 in a move that would see them price matching their predecessors' MSRP. In saying that, the original Powerbeats Pro can be picked up for roughly half that from third-party retailers (curr. $149.99 on Amazon).
To facilitate that effective price increase, Quandt alleges that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will be capable of monitoring heart rates via optical LED sensors that can take measurements at up to 100 times per second. This functionality will also be open to Android smartphone owners, although its use will be limited across iOS and Android to just within workouts.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 are said to adopt Apple's H2 chipset as well, which will help deliver up to 10 hours of battery between charges, or 45 hours when factoring in its bundled charging case. The official battery life figure is unlikely to be representative of when active noise cancellation (ANC) is active though, nor when the earbuds' transparency mode is enabled. Nonetheless, a 5-minute recharge should provide up to 90 minutes of music playback, which Apple will advertise as 'Fast Fuel' technology.
Quandt adds that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will arrive with IPX4 certification and three microphones per earbud from the existing AirPods Pro 2. Meanwhile, its charging case will support Qi wireless charging and Find My functionality, plus Locate My Beats for Android users. A release date has not surfaced yet. Instead, Quandt suggests that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will officially debut 'in the coming weeks'.
