Galaxy S24 Ultra to adopt new 5x optical zoom camera as codenames for Samsung Galaxy S24 series trio surface
Galaxy Club and SamMobile have partnered to share early information about the Galaxy S24 series, which is presumed to be on track for an early 2024 launch. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the pair have obtained limited details concerning the series. Typically, major leaks about Samsung smartphones occur within a month of their release, as has proven the case recently with the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5.
Supposedly, Samsung has codenamed the Galaxy S24 series 'Muse', also allegedly known as 'Project Muse' internally. For reference, Samsung codenamed the Galaxy S20, S21, S22 and S23 series Hubble, Unbound, Rainbow and Diamond, respectively. According to Galaxy Club, Samsung is developing Muse1, Muse2 and Muse3, debunking the notion that Samsung will only offer two flagship Galaxy S series smartphones going forwards. As we discussed earlier this year, respected leakers like Roland Quandt disputed the idea that Samsung had dropped the Plus model from its plans for the Galaxy S24 series.
Galaxy Club adds that Samsung will shake up the camera hardware it offers in its next 'Ultra' smartphone too, having made incremental changes to the telephoto and ultra-wide-angle sensors between the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Reportedly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature a telephoto camera capable of delivering 5x optical zoom. Presumably, this new sensor will replace the 3x lens in the Galaxy S23 Ultra and not that 10x equivalent. Galaxy Club anticipates that it will receive more information about 'Project Muse' in the 'coming weeks'.
