Following the footsteps of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S24’s One UI 8 based Android 16 update, Samsung has pulled the same for Galaxy S23 series as well. Users who have already updated to One UI 8 should be fine but those who were looking forward to it will have to wait a bit longer. As usual, Samsung has not shared any information on the pause.
Towards the end of September, Samsung started rolling out One UI 8 for Galaxy S23 users. The update brings Android 16 to Samsung’s flagship series from 2023 which came with Android 13 based One UI 5.1. The company promised four major Android OS updates and five years of security updates, making Android 16 the third major update. Unfortunately, the roll out has now been paused, as reported by Sammobile. The latest firmware listed on Samsung’s servers ends in DYI3 which is an Android 15 build.
Samsung did not share why it has pulled the update and when it will resume. The same happened with the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S24 series including the Galaxy S24 FE. The same publication recently reported that at least two of the Galaxy S22 variants have started receiving the updates again. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, however, hasn’t been as lucky. The updates for the Galaxy S24 series are yet to resume.
Notably, this is not an uncommon practice and the updates usually resume not too long after being paused. However, as mentioned earlier, the company has not shared a reason for the stasis. There have also been no major complaints from users who managed to update their phones while the updates were live.
