Galaxy A Fold: Samsung may have an affordable foldable phone in the works
While Samsung wasn't the first to debut a foldable smartphone—the Royale FlexPai has the honor—the first-gen Galaxy Fold was the first foldable device to go mainstream, and Samsung has continued to push the segment forward since then. The company's foldable phones remain more expensive than its traditional models, sadly, but that could change soon.
According to leaker @chunvn8888, Samsung may be working on an affordable foldable phone. The foldable is expected to be a counterpart to the company's mainstream Galaxy A series, which would make it quite a bit cheaper than Samsung's current premium foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold3. For some perspective, the Galaxy Z Fold3 debuted with a stupendous US$1799 MSRP last year. There's also the Galaxy Z Flip3, of course, which had a US$999 launch price tag.
Reportedly, this affordable Galaxy foldable—which could cheekily be referred to as the Galaxy A Fold—is in development. Fans have quite the wait on their hands, though, with Samsung seemingly looking at a 2024 or 2025 release.
