Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58: QHD gaming notebook with room for three drives
The Acer Nitro 5 series stands for entry-level and mid-range gaming notebooks. The devices are positioned below the Predator series and are priced between US$ 800—2500. This variant is one of the top models of the series with a price of around US$ 2400. High-quality looking case materials are not present despite the price level — the chassis is made of black plastic.
The combination of a Core i7-12700H CPU, a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti laptop GPU and 16GB RAM (DDR4-3200, dual-channel mode) runs all current games smoothly on a 15.6-inch screen (QHD, IPS, 165 Hz). The full screen resolution (2560x1440) and high to maximum settings can usually be selected. The matte display offers stable viewing angles, short response times, great color reproduction and good color space coverage. The brightness and contrast ratio meet their specified targets.
A fast PCIe-4 SSD provides the necessary storage capacity (1 TB) for a gaming notebook and ensures short loading times. Should storage space be exhausted, expansion is possible: The notebook has room for a second PCIe-4-SSD and a 2.5-inch storage device (mounting frame and SATA slot are included).
One battery charge (57.5 Wh) is enough for a WLAN runtime of just under 4 hours - not a good value. A positive aspect: The battery can be charged via a universal USB-C power adapter (min. 65 Watts, 20 V) - the Thunderbolt 4 slot supports Power Delivery, thus removing the need to carry the bulky 280-watt power adapter around.
