Reddit user Pebblestar alleged that they played an early test version of GTA 6 in 2024. Posting from a disposable account to maintain anonymity, their post has since been deleted. Pebblestar claimed not to be involved in the game's development but stated that they visited Rockstar Games' offices for professional reasons, where they had the chance to experience the game firsthand.
Exceptionally realistic game world
In his Reddit post, Pebblestar describes an impressively realistic-looking game world. The majority of objects in the game are supposed to be physically present and react interactively to the player – smaller objects, such as discarded coffee cups, are no longer just 2D textures on the ground.
The environment responds realistically to changing weather, with traffic signs swaying in the wind and puddles forming in potholes during rain, which gradually evaporate under the sun. The inhabitants of the game world should also appear remarkably lifelike. After a traffic accident, wreckage strewn across the road causes traffic jams, road workers repair damage and tow trucks remove damaged vehicles.
Authenticity not confirmed
The authenticity of leaks is often hard to verify and this case is no exception. Sources typically remain anonymous and leakers rarely provide concrete evidence to support their claims. Rockstar Games is well-known for its stringent security measures, making it highly unlikely that an outsider would gain access to a test build of GTA 6. As a result, the credibility of such information remains questionable.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the leak, many of the details shared by Pebblestar appear plausible. Early trailers for GTA 6 have already showcased physical interactions with small objects, while Red Dead Redemption 2 featured a highly realistic weather system, making its further refinement in GTA 6 a logical progression. Additionally, some of the leaked details align with job postings from Rockstar, which mention work on destruction and advanced weather systems, lending credibility to parts of the claims.
