Dino Crisis is back from the dead after a long period of extinction.
The code wizards at GOG (aka Good Old Games) just released updated versions of the PC ports of both Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2. These classic survival horror games were originally launched on the PlayStation back in 1999 and 2000, respectively.
While both titles received PC ports in 2000 and 2002, respectively, they have largely been left in abandonware limbo; they were difficult to purchase and even harder to get running on modern hardware. However, the versions GOG released today breathe new life into the cult classic titles.
Updates to the ports include, but are not limited to:
- Compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Language support for English, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, French, and German (Dino Crisis 2 only supports English and Japanese)
- DirectX support
- 32-bit color depth and 4K resolution support
- Controller support, including DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox controllers, Nintendo Switch controllers, and more
- "Issue-free" cutscenes and animations, according to GOG
Both games play similarly to the early Resident Evil games, tank controls and all. They are survival horror games at heart, pitting players against prehistoric perils and tasking them to survive environments infested with resurrected dinosaurs, à la Jurassic Park.
Both games are available through GOG for $9.99 each. Gamers that want both can save $3 and buy the Dino Crisis bundle for $16.99. Check the Sources section below for direct links to each store page.
