Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S25 series, a rather conservative lineup with few hardware improvements. The company went the routs of refinements and optimization with these phones. However, as it turns out S25 models do address a display issue that concerned many in predecessor models.
Galaxy S25 series phones are free from the undesired graininess effect present on Galaxy S24 devices
Last year, tipster Ice Universe shared a comparison of four flagship phones on X/Twitter, featuring a Galaxy S24 Ultra. The image showed a noticeable grain effect on the screen of the Samsung product that was not present on the other phones. The issue would manifest itself at low brightness levels and in dark environments. Considering it isn't unusual for consumers to use their phones in bed before falling asleep, it's easy to see how the problem ended up affecting a sizeable number of users.
At the time, the tipster suggested buyers of Galaxy S24 devices start a class action lawsuit against Samsung. Then, early leaks about S25 models mentioned the Korea-based company's intention to fix the graininess effect. Now, Ice Universe has confirmed that the issue is indeed not present on Samsung's latest flagship phones.
It's noteworthy that the Galaxy S25 lineup uses AMOLED displays based on M13+, an upgraded version of the M13 material. However, interestingly enough, this is not the company's latest display tech. The Google Pixel 9 and iPhone 16 series use Samsung displays made from the most efficient and durable M14 material. One would expect the South Korean giant to makes use of its best technologies when designing its flagship products, but this is not the case this time.
Currently, the Galaxy S25 series is available for pre-order, with shipping set to begin in February.
