GMK claims Ryzen AI HX 370-powered EVO X1 mini PC will be able to match RTX 2060 in graphic performance
Multiple mini PC brands have hinted at upcoming products based on AMD's recently unveiled Strix Point APUs. GMK is one such name on the list, and is set to embrace Strix Point goodness with its upcoming EVO X1 mini PC.
Just recently, the brand has claimed that the EVO X1, which will be based on the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, will boast a 70 W TDP for the APU, which is substantially higher than the typical maximum of 54 W that AMD specifies for this APU.
That said, will a higher TDP guarantee a performance leap in lockstep? Absolutely not. However, it might just grant the Radeon 890M iGPU to gain some extra oomph, while handing the APU the breathing room it yearns to shine under sustained loads.
Interestingly, GMK claims that the EVO X1 will have graphics performance that is comparable to a discrete RTX 2060 GPU, which might be the result of the higher TDP. But let's not kid ourselves; GMK is most likely referring to the 65 W Max-Q variant, which is nowhere near as fast as an RTX 2060 Laptop.
In our testing, we found the Radeon 890M to be substantially more powerful than RTX 2050 Mobile-equipped laptops, and the RTX 2060 Max-Q is not too far off either, although GMK's claims that it will outperform an RTX 2060 is somewhat of an exaggeration, to say the least.
Regarding pricing or availability - we're still in the dark. However, more information should seep out eventually. We do know what the GMK EVO X1 would look like, thanks to the plethora of marketing material, and it looks just as sleek and compact as a mini PC should.
