Palmshell's new ultra-slim, affordable Mini PC features a quad-core CPU and extensive connectivity options
Mini PCs are incredibly popular these days, considering people are willing to trade high performance for a more portable form factor. Shenzhen-based Radxa's Palmshell has launched the SLiM X4L, a super-compact yet capable Mini PC that features an Intel N100 quad-core processor with speeds up to 3.4GHz. The SLiM X4L comes in three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB NVMe SSD, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 memory running at 4800 MT/s.
Connectivity is a solid aspect of this PC, with the device supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, for bumped-up data transfer rates, channel width, and latency. Ethernet users will benefit from a 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 port. Dual HDMI 2.0 ports enable up to 4K resolution at 30Hz for dual-screen setups.
As mentioned earlier, the SLiM X4L prioritizes portability above all else. The ultra-sleek design and optional VESA mount support makes it ideal for both desktop and mounted use. Despite its small size, it includes a 7000RPM PWM-controlled fan that claims to provide efficient cooling without significant noise, even under heavy workloads.
Another big selling point for the SLiM X4L could be its compatibility with multiple operating systems, thanks to its x86 architecture. However, the power supply is sold separately, requiring either a 12V/3A direct adapter or a USB power delivery-capable adapter with a USB-C connector.
As far as pricing details and availability info goes, the 8GB RAM+128GB SSD variant is listed for $135 on Arace.
