Freebeat has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for its Morph e-bike. The unusual model can be ridden outdoors, with an accompanying stand allowing you to work out indoors. You can use the indoor rides to recharge the 720Wh battery, with 30 minutes of exercise providing 10 miles (~16 km) of range.

The freebeat Morph e-bike is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The model can be used for indoor and outdoor cycling thanks to an accompanying stand. You can choose from high-step or step-thru frames. A US model has a 750W motor with 80 Nm torque and a top speed of 20 mph (~32 kph); an EU-compliant version has a 350W motor.

Both Morph e-bikes have a 720Wh removable battery allowing you to travel up to 60 miles (~97 km) on a single charge. You can recharge the battery through an indoor cycling workout, with 30 minutes of exercise adding around 10 miles (~16 km) to your range. You can use the accompanying app for workouts and mini-games, with an adaptive resistance tool to challenge you. Smart saddle detection can also tell if you’re sitting or standing and log this in your performance. The aluminum alloy e-bike has a front suspension fork with 80mm travel, with lock-out, and fat tires for a comfortable ride outdoors.

Other features of the new freebeat model include hydraulic disc brakes, a 3.5-in backlit display to show your speed and distance travelled, and a thumb throttle. The lowest pledge level for the freebeat Morph e-bike at Kickstarter is US$1,199; the electric bicycle is expected to retail at US$2,299. The US version is due to ship in August, while the EU model is expected in September. It is worth noting that the company only plans to deliver the model to certain countries such as the US, the UK, Canada, the Netherlands and France.
