Tesla snares Polestar with NACS allure in a surprise to absolutely nobody
It seems as though Tesla's North American Charging standard has really gotten into its stride, counting some of the automotive industry's largest manufacturers as adopters of the standard. Ford was the first large manufacturer to hop aboard the NACS train, while the likes of Rivian, General Motors, and Volvo followed shortly after. It's no surprise to learn that Polestar has also recently announced that it will be adopting Tesla's NACS hardware starting in the middle of 2024.
Not only will Polestar be adopting a new, more convenient, port, but the change in hardware will enable drivers of the brand's electric vehicles to access Tesla's Supercharger network in the US and Canada, expanding access to charging infrastructure by some 12,000+ charge points.
As has been the case with other electric vehicle manufacturers that have adopted the standard, existing Polestar owners will be able to make use of Tesla's Superchargers by way of an adaptor, but in a bit of a twist, Polestar will include a CCS adaptor with every vehicle it sells, so that it's customers effectively have the best of both worlds.
