FIFA Heroes delayed to May 2026

FIFA's first mobile game since ending its exclusive deal with EA Sports is nearly here, but not quite on schedule. ENVER Studio and Solace Games announced that FIFA Heroes would miss its April 28 target, with a May 2026 global launch now confirmed. No specific date within May has been given.
The game is already available in early access on Android in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. A full global launch on iOS, Android, and PC will follow in May, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox versions arriving at a later date.
Not your typical football game
FIFA Heroes takes a different approach from simulation football. Matches run for around 90 seconds in a 5v5 format, built around hero abilities that let players teleport across the pitch, unleash long-range power shots, and disrupt opponents with special moves. The structure pulls from mobile-first design rather than anything in the EA Sports FC mold.
The roster mixes current international stars licensed through FIFPRO, including Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, and Emiliano Martinez, with all-time legends such as Diego Maradona. Mythological characters including Thor and Sun Wukong also feature, sharing the pitch with FIFA World Cup 2026 official mascots. A dedicated World Cup mode is part of the package at launch.
FIFA's first step without EA
FIFA and EA Sports parted ways after failing to agree on a new licensing deal, with reports pointing to a fee dispute that would have cost EA around $1 billion over four years. FIFA Heroes is the first title to launch under the new model, where FIFA works with multiple third-party studios rather than locking rights to a single publisher.
Motorola is the game's smartphone partner. Select Motorola devices will ship with FIFA Heroes pre-installed, including the Razr Fold, which has a custom gameplay experience built for the foldable form factor. Exclusive in-game rewards are also tied to Motorola hardware.
The May launch is timed to build momentum ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which kicks off in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in June. Whether the arcade format can hold an audience beyond the tournament window will be the real test for a game that has no direct EA Sports FC competition to push back against.
FIFA Heroes is not the only major mobile gaming event building toward the summer. HoYoverse confirmed on April 24 that Genshin Impact Version 7.0, which opens the long-awaited Snezhnaya region, launches August 12, 2026.
