Sony’s PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal receive major price increases in Southeast Asia

Sony previously raised the prices of its gaming hardware in Western and Japanese markets, effective April 2. A few weeks later, the electronics giant is extending the price hike to some Southeast Asian countries.
From May 1, 2026, gamers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam will see varying percentage increases in the costs of their gaming devices. The biggest price jump is in Indonesia, where the PlayStation Portal remote player will now sell for IDR 5,199,000, up 44.5 percent from IDR 3,599,000. The PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will now cost IDR 11,399,000 and IDR 9,999,000, respectively, in the same country.
In Singapore, the PS5 has jumped to SGD 849, while the PS5 Digital Edition and PS5 Pro will cost SGD 764 and SGD 1,167, respectively. The PlayStation Portal will retail for SGD 347.
In Malaysia, Sony will sell the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition for MYR 2,799 and MYR 2,499, respectively. The PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal will retail for MYR 3,999 and MYR 1,099, respectively.
Sony stated that the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will cost THB 20,990 and THB 18,790, respectively, in Thailand. The PS5 Pro will sell for THB 30,990, while the PlayStation Portal will retail for THB 8,380.
Lastly, prices for the PS5 in the Philippines and Vietnam have jumped to PHP 40,032 and VND 16,900,000, respectively.
According to Sony, the latest price hikes are due to continued pressures in the global economic landscape. However, PlayStation console sales have dropped in Japan following the price hike in the market, giving Microsoft's Xbox an advantage
