Earlier this month, it was reported that Sony would announce a new version of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, a.k.a. PS5 Digital Edition, with a smaller storage capacity. That version has now been quietly released and is available to buy in Europe.
The new PS5 Digital Edition has the model number CFI-2100. However, it looks no different from the current CFI-2000 model. The only difference is that the new version comes with a reduced storage capacity — 825GB — while the older model has 1TB of storage. That wouldn't be a bad thing if it meant buyers get to pay less, right?
Unfortunately, the new PS5 Digital Edition with 825GB of storage is currently sold for the same €499.99 price as the 1TB version, which is still in stock. As a matter of fact, you can even grab the 1TB version on Amazon.de for €449 or buy the version with a disc drive for €509.
The new PS5 Digital Edition with 825GB of storage is available to buy on Amazon in France and Italy. It has also been spotted on Amazon Germany and Amazon Spain, but is unavailable to purchase yet. Save for the smaller storage, nothing seems to have changed, at least on the outside. However, a teardown may reveal changes on the inside of the console.
