Genshin Impact Version 7.0 launches August 12

HoYoverse aired its "To Snezhnaya and the Future" behind-the-scenes special on April 24, confirming that Genshin Impact Version 7.0 will launch on August 12, 2026.
The release date was embedded in the stream's redemption code, Snezhnaya20260812, which is valid until April 27 and rewards 200 Primogems. HoYoverse is skipping Version 6.8 entirely, moving straight from 6.7 to 7.0.
Snezhnaya revealed
Snezhnaya is Genshin Impact's final nation and the home of the Fatui, the Tsaritsa, and the ancient Fae race, which includes Linnea and Flins. The region is built around extreme cold, heavy industrialization, and a train network that functions as both transport and active gameplay space. The capital, Snezhnograd, houses Kresnik's Torch, the core of the nation's heating system.
The developers drew inspiration from Eastern Europe and the Arctic, and the Snowpiercer comparison was one I appreciated personally. Music for the region pulls from Slavic traditions and classical symphonic composition.
What changes in Version 7.0
Snezhnaya introduces new Cryo-based Elemental Reactions, though specifics were not disclosed during the stream. A new exploration mechanic exclusive to the Traveler was teased, with the developers hinting it could surpass Fontaine's underwater systems in scope.
NPC and enemy behavior is being overhauled across all of Teyvat, not just Snezhnaya. Patrolling guards will join active battles depending on faction alignment, and enemies will coordinate strategies based on their allies and the environment rather than reacting to the player alone.
Version 7.0 also brings a full visual upgrade covering cinematic presentation, combat animations, and rendering quality. Concept art for new Traveler outfits was shown during the stream, though no acquisition details were given.
Story setup
The Fatui hold all seven Gnoses except the Pyro Gnosis, which is expected to be resolved during Version 6.6 before players reach Snezhnaya. Version 7.0 is set to finally reveal the Tsaritsa's full agenda and explain why the Archons gave their Gnoses to Snezhnaya so willingly.
