Eve V: a final sale event has been announced for this "Surface alternative"
Eve has announced a "last chance" event for those still interested in its first-generation V tablet (with keyboard). This one-time "Surface killer" had been touted as a more cost-effective to get a powerful 2-in-1 at a competitive price compared to Microsoft's then-current model. This was the Pro 6, which had started at just over US$2000 back then. The V's top-end model, on the other hand, had been set at $1399 for comparable specs and performance (on paper, at least).
This could have been a considerable blow to the Redmond company - had its maker been associated with better fulfilment and competence, that is. Numerous fans of the nascent brand subsequently asserted that they never received their orders, an issue that dogged the Eve V through the rest of its life as a marketed product.
However, the company claims to have undergone a comprehensive overhaul in terms of its supply and shipment practices. Therefore, it remains to be seen how it goes for this last batch of Vs when they go on sale. This will occur on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 17:00 Eastern European Time (EET, or 15:00 GMT).
At this time, SKUs with the Kaby Lake-based Core i7-7Y75 SoC, 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSDs will be listed for $779, whereas they are $849 at present. Therefore, it could be a pretty good deal - presuming they are delivered in good time. In addition, this product's successor, said to be powered with Tiger Lake silicon this time, has been confirmed as on the way.
