EndeavourOS Galileo Neo released: New version of the rolling Linux distribution based on Arch
EndeavourOS is a popular rolling release Linux distribution that provides up-to-date software thanks to the Arch Linux base. Unlike Arch Linux, which only offers a text-based installation using the "ArchInstall" script, EndeavourOS comes with the Calamares installer. The EndeavourOS team has now updated the ISO file for installation from a live USB stick.
EndeavourOS Galileo Neo with Linux kernel 6.7.1, updated Calamares installer and Firefox 122
"A new kernel arrived, so it was time to refresh our Galileo ISO with Galileo Neo version 2024-01-25. Like previous Neo releases, this release doesn’t bring new features but the necessary fixes and core package updates for both the ISO and the offline KDE Plasma option," the developers write on the EndeavourOS blog.
As EndeavourOS is a rolling distribution, where individual packages of the Linux installation are continually updated, users already running EndeavourOS will have the latest version installed after an update. The Galileo Neo release only updates the ISO file for installation using a live Linux system.
In addition to some fixes for the KDE Plasma installation in offline mode on Wayland, the Calamares installer now disconnects the hard drive in case of installation errors. In detail, the EndeavourOS Galileo Neo installation ISO contains the following versions Linux kernel 6.7.1.arch1-1, Calamares 23.11.2.4-1, Firefox 122.0-1, Mesa 1:23.3.3-1, Xorg server 21.1.11-1 and the proprietary Nvidia graphics driver Nvidia-dkms 545.29.1.06-1.
