EndeavourOS Neo's successor, Mercury, arrived yesterday with the Linux kernel 6.13, Xfce 4.20, Firefox 135.0, Nvidia 570.86.16-3, a memory test for EFI, a default dark theme in KDE, Gnome, Xfce, Mate, Budgie, and Cinnamon, as well as many other tweaks and fixes. The version number of the update is 2025.02.08.

EndeavourOS 2025.02.08 Mercury, although its version number suggests a February 8th release, was fully unveiled yesterday. This Arch Linux-based distro is now built on top of the Linux kernel 6.13, or 6.13.1.arch2-1 for those who want to get the full version number. The ISO now features a memory test for EFI boot as well, and the issue with BIOS/Legacy installs has been ironed out. The KDE Plasma, Gnome, Xfce, Mate, Budgie, and Cinnamon desktops come with a dark theme by default.

In addition to the above, the list of essential packages that have been upgraded and their version numbers also contains the following:

  • Calamares 25.02.1.4-3
  • Firefox 135.0-1
  • Mesa 1:24.3.4-1
  • Xorg-server 21.1.15-1 (xorg)
  • Nvidia 570.86.16-3

Dark and light wallpapers are now being set automatically in Gnome, and the Xfce4 theme now looks more like the default Xfce setup. A problem in the installer, which was showing double entries for the EFI selection dropdown menu, has been taken care of.

The ISO file is available via multiple mirrors spread across the world, which can be found on this page. While both the offline and online installations require 15 GB of disk space and a 64-bit dual-core processor, the first only needs 3 GB of memory, compared to the 4 GB required by the latter. The advantage of the online installer is that, while its offline counterpart comes with the Calamares installer and KDE Plasma, the choices when going online include no less than eight desktop environments and one window manager, namely Xfce, KDE Plasma, Gnome, Mate, Cinnamon, Budgie, lxQT, lxDE, and i3-wm.
