EndeavourOS 2024.06.25 rolls out with Plasma 6.1 and various fixes
In the second half of May 2019, the Arch Linux-based distro Antergos was discontinued. Thankfully, the project that quickly surfaced as its successor, namely EndeavourOS, lives on and has just received an update. The update, labeled 2024.06.25, is most likely the last one before next month's anniversary. On the 15th of July, EndeavourOS will celebrate half a decade since its initial release, which was EndeavourOS 19.6.
EndeavourOS 2024.06.25 comes with the following updated essentials:
- Calamares 24.06.1.2-1
- Firefox 127.0.1-1
- Kernel 6.9.6.arch1-1
- Mesa 1:24.1.2-1
- Xorg-server 21.1.13-1 (xorg)
- Nvidia 550.90.07-4
- Plasma 6.1
The language selection for Italian users using vconsole has been fixed in this update. The same can be said about the crash that used to occur when EOS apps were deselected in Calamares.
In addition to all the above, it should also be mentioned that EndeavourOS 2024.06.25 comes without the r8168 legacy driver package. Its removal took place because it was also taken out of the Arch repository. While most legacy Realtek hardware shouldn't have problems with the drivers provided by the kernel, some systems might need a workaround to run smoothly. This workaround is described on this page.
