Elden Ring film: Leaked set images show Leyndell, Marika, an Omen child and more

According to Bandai Namco, filming on A24’s Elden Ring movie is set to get underway in spring 2026, ahead of its planned US theatrical release on March 3, 2028. So far, production appears to be on schedule, as five images from the set in London have now surfaced on Reddit and are already generating plenty of discussion among fans.
Filming is apparently taking place at the Old Naval College in Greenwich, which has previously served as a location for several well-known films, including Les Misérables, The Dark Knight Rises and Sherlock Holmes. In the movie, this backdrop will likely stand in for the royal capital of Leyndell. The first impression is grounded and faithful to the source material, without drifting into exaggerated fantasy kitsch. It is the details, however, that make things truly interesting.

The many birdcages certainly fit Leyndell’s overall aesthetic and may simply serve as decoration. On the other hand, they could also suggest that the magical academy of Raya Lucaria will play a role in the film, since similar cages can be found there as well. Overall, the set design seems to have been well received by the community. Fans remain more cautious when it comes to the storytelling, however, because Elden Ring, with its cryptic lore, is hardly considered easy material for a conventional film narrative.
Young Marika and an Omen child?
The image currently drawing the most discussion is probably the one showing a blonde woman in a blue robe walking through the city. Fans suspect that this could be Marika. Since she still appears to have both braids, many believe the film may depict the ruler of the Lands Between in her younger years, perhaps as part of a backstory or flashback. The same image also reveals another intriguing detail: in the foreground, there appears to be a figure with horns growing from their head. The community is already debating whether this could be an Omen child, and whether the film might delve deeper into the backstory of the game world.
Reference to the Dung Eater
A separate image that surfaced on Reddit shows a gallows, which many immediately associate with the Dung Eater. This could either point to an appearance by the character or suggest that the film is recreating the iconic opening sequence of Elden Ring.
