Hackers leak the entire upcoming Avatar movie ahead of October release

A big batch of footage and script details for the first animated feature from Avatar Studios, Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender, showed up on 4chan and X earlier today (April 12). The material, most of which has been scrapped as of writing, gives us our first clear look at the original characters as young adults. Now, we have to see what changes, if any, will be made regarding the movie's arrival to cinemas.
The leaked footage shows Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko reuniting to find a new character named Tagah. Voiced by Dave Bautista, Tagah is an ancient Airbender who had been trapped in ice. The clips confirm that the lead roles have been entirely recast. Eric Nam voices Aang, Steven Yeun plays Zuko, and the rest of the team is voiced by Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and Dionne Quan.

Aside from the cast, the leak also reveals a big change in Paramount’s release strategy. Internal files show the movie has moved from a planned theatrical run to a streaming-only debut on Paramount+ scheduled for October 9, 2026. Also, early comments from those who gave the leaked movie a watch are pretty positive. They are happy with the animation style, which stays close to the original show’s look, but a lot of them are mad regarding the decision to replace the original voice cast. On 4chan, there is a fair amount of concern pertaining to specific script choices that some fans claim contradict the established history found in the comics and The Legend of Korra.
Paramount has already started filing copyright claims to scrub the footage from social media, though descriptions and discussions regarding the scenes are still easy to find. While the quality of the animation itself (from the screenshots) is pretty tangible proof that the clips are real, Avatar Studios has not yet made an official statement regarding the leak or any updated release date yet.
