Deal | For record chasers: Speedrun shooter with top rating (98%) cheaper than ever on Steam

Anyone in the mood for a dose of quick, entertaining shooting action will currently find an interesting deal on Steam. The speedrun shooter I Am Your Beast is currently available at 40% off, reducing its regular price of around $20 to roughly $12 . According to SteamDB, this is the first discount of this size. Thanks to its “Verified” status on the Steam Deck, the deal might be worth a look for handheld gamers.
In I Am Your Beast, players take on the role of former secret agent Alphonse Harding, who is supposed to be brought back for one final mission after six years in retirement. When he refuses, he becomes caught up in an armed conflict with the military organization Covert Operations Initiative. The story itself plays a secondary role. Its main purpose is to provide the framework for an uncompromising guerrilla war in the North American wilderness. I Am Your Beast is not a traditional story-driven shooter, but an extremely fast-paced speedrun FPS.

The levels are designed as sandbox arenas in which all enemies must be taken out as efficiently and as quickly as possible (comparable to Ghostrunner or Hotline Miami). Success depends not only on good aim, but also on route planning, tactical movement and clever use of the environment, including tunnels, cover and traps. Repetition is practically built into the game’s core design. Players replay sections again and again in search of a better route and a faster time. That makes I Am Your Beast especially well suited to players who enjoy fast, precise action and highly optimized runs.
In its review, Eurogamer awarded the game 4 out of 5 stars for its fast-paced and at times brutal gameplay. Although the story remains mostly in the background, the reviewers said it is surprisingly well told. The creative level design, with its many opportunities to use the terrain to your advantage, was also praised. Players should, however, have a certain tolerance for frustration. In I Am Your Beast, improvement comes almost entirely through repetition. The game is also quite short, with a playtime of around three hours. Record chasers, however, are likely to spend considerably more time with it. Steam reviews are equally impressive: 98% positive ratings from more than 5,000 user reviews.
