From Software is known to take its sweet time releasing DLC for its titles. Elden Ring is no different despite being the company's most successful title to date. It is well on its way to receiving multiple "Game of the Year" accolades and on top of that, players will finally get some additional content. The official Elden Ring Twitter handle announced the game will get the free Colosseum Update on December 7 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
For those out of the loop, the game has three colosseums in Caelid, Limgrave and Leyndell, all of which were heretofore inaccessible to players, although some data miners managed to get a sneak peek of what's inside. Based on From Software's teaser, the Elden Ring Colosseum Update will bring forth both PvP and PvE modes. The one-minute trailer focuses heavily on teaming up with other players to fight for the Elden Ring or to test your mettle against other Tarnished.
While the Elden Ring Colosseum Update comes as a breath of fresh air for content-starved players, it won't be enough to keep Elden Ring in the spotlight for long. One can only hope that From Software doesn't pull a Sekiro and scrap all DLC outright. The chances of that happening are quite low, though, as the company doesn't seem to have another major IP in the pipeline. Plus, it would be foolish not to cash in further on Elden Ring's huge commercial success by topping it up with paid content.
