The next generation of Lenovo's classic T series ThinkPads, their mainstay laptop line for large business customers, has many excited: The new 2026 Lenovo ThinkPad models are coming with a more repairable design and a larger 75 Wh battery. That alone makes the new Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 AMD worth the wait, let alone the Intel version with Panther Lake and LPCAMM2 memory.
However: There is a good reason NOT to wait for the newest model. Plain and simple: the pricing.
We recently reviewed the 2025 model of the series, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 6. In our comprehensive review, this older version showed that it still brings a great performance and also good battery life to the table, with almost 14 hrs in our testing. More importantly, it is still priced like a 2025 laptop, too: Amazon lists a version of the ThinkPad with the same Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350 CPU we tested for around $1,200.
This is a pricing that will not be seen on the new Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 AMD, with not just the prices for the RAM rising at an explosive pace. And while the bigger 75 Wh battery is a real benefit of the newer model that may be worth waiting for if you are a road warrior, AMD Ryzen AI 400 provides little incentive to pay the extra money, as it is just a refresh of the older Ryzen AI 300 CPUs.
That is why we say: Get a ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 AMD, while the supply lasts. The ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 AMD looks like a great update, but it will be a pricey one.
